Course Description
This course evaluates cross-cultural & interdisciplinary manifestations of friendship across the historical continuum from the classical era through post-modernity. Represented are the literary genres of classical essays, philosophical treatises, biblical excerpts, poetry, drama, short stories, letters, biographies, & diaries. Excerpts range from Aristotle to Cicero, Sappho to Dante, Mozart to Collette, T.S. Elliot to Graucho Marx, Anna Akhmatova to Nafisi Azar, & many others.
